Battersea Power Station development offers exciting work opportunity for Bolingbroke pupils

Battersea Power Station currently under development, was where some of our Year 11s did their recent work experience working for construction giant Sir Robert McAlpine

Battersea Power Station is one of South London’s most iconic buildings, and its current transformation from old industrial relic into a slick 21st century centre for housing, shops, resturants and a hotel is an exciting and long awaited project.

And some of Bolingbroke’s Year 11 pupils were fortunate enough to work with the construction firm Sir Robert McAlpine during their recent few days of invaluable work experience.

Donning their hard hats and high vis jackets, the group of pupils soon learned that there is far more to this construction business than first meets the eye.

The pupils got the opportunity to work alongside engineers and architects on the project

The pupils all said what an eye opening experience it had been to see all aspects of the building from engineering to sustainability, community engagement, design and project management.

“It’s not just hard hats and cement mixers,” commented one pupils.

Not only were the pupils impressed by the business but they also managed to impress their hosts during individual mock interviews and presentations.
