Bolingbroke's musicians demonstrate musical prowess at Ark's Fusion concert

Performers from Bolingbroke at Ark's  recent Fusion End of Year Concert  held at Rudolf Steiner House

Report by Mikey Wilson

Another year, another roaring success in the world of Ark music. On Saturday, our musicians took part in the annual Inspiring Excellence End of Year Concert as part of the Fusion ensemble, which dubs itself ‘an orchestra with a twist’.

And it lived up to its billing in style, with classical numbers such as Jean Sibelius’ Karelia Suite complemented by a superb rendition of Eminem’s Lose Yourself. The musicians switched between styles with striking ease, demonstrating their undeniable musical talent.

For some of our musicians, this concert was to be their last as part of the Fusion ensemble, bowing out after seven years of religiously attending the half-termly rehearsals, and serving the Ark network fantastically well. For others, there are plenty more years of music with Ark ahead of them – no doubt we will see them all thrive and improve as musicians in this period.

Charlie in Year 13, for whom Saturday’s concert was his last with Fusion, said: “I’ve really enjoyed my seven years performing with Fusion, and it’s sad knowing I won’t see some of these faces again. I don’t think I’ll ever forget the experience. Hopefully I’ll be back in some capacity”.
