Counting on success - pupils scoop clutch of awards in national maths competition

Earlier this year Bolingbroke pupils brought home eight silver and 13 bronze  awards in the UK’s biggest national maths competition.

Run by the UK Mathematics Trust, (UKMT), the Intermediate Maths Challenge is designed to test some of the most able mathematicians in Years 9, 10 and 11, and receives more than 300,000 entries a year.

To receive a silver award puts students in the top 7% of entrants, and a bronze in the top 40%. “We would like to take this opportunity to extend a huge well done from Team Maths, with particular highlights for Haja (best in year 9), Emir (Best in year 10) and Stammy (Best in year 11) said Ms Tibbetts.

All classes are now working towards their end of year ARK assesment from which their final grades will be calculated. As well as a reminder that all pupils will require their own geometry set and calculator (apart from year 7), please be advised of the following dates:

  • Year 7 assessments – 26th June and 1st July
  • Year 8 assessments – 26th June and 27th June
  • Year 9 assessments – 25th June and 1st July
  • Year 10 mocks – 17th June , 19th June and 20th June.

As well as Hegarty revision our Key Stage 3 classes have now completed a full set of revision booklets for which solutions can be found on Show My Homework.
