Summer Splash Concert 2017
Summer Splash Concert
Summer Splash Concert, Thursday 13th July, St Michael’s Church, Battersea.
Bolingbroke Academy was very proud to present the Summer Splash Concert to an audience of over 200 with standing room only. Over 75 pupils took part in the concert with a very wide range of musical styles and talents showcased.
The Music department have worked really hard to put on this concert with rehearsals starting on the second Enrichments cycle in March of this year. Ms Breckon commented “Everyone has shown 100% commitment to the concert and the result was absolutely brilliant, I am so proud of all of the pupils who took part, particularly those who had to overcome fears or learn pieces from scratch.”
Lauren Ferguson, who sang ‘Man in the Mirror’ with Alliyah Johnson was one such pupil who overcame her nerves to deliver an emotional and confident performance.
A highlight for Ms Auguste was the newly formed Jazz & Funk Band. “The band was formed recently and consists of 20 pupils who have really come together as a team. Aenea Vannoni has shown a true flair for the drums and gave it his absolute all, it would be fair to say that everyone watching was really impressed.” The band played out the first half in full force leaving everyone dying to hear the second half.
The highlight of the evening was the finale whereby the Bolingbroke Staff choir sang ‘All you need is love’. The choir were joined one by one by the Senior Band on their instruments and joined thereafter by all of Bolingbroke Academy's choirs. In tune and style with the film Love Actually, it was a spine tingling, awe inspiring end to a masterpiece concert.
Mr Conlon, who has attended each and every one of the concerts, said “This year was by far the best one yet, I am always overwhelmed by the musical talents of the pupils.”
