Year 11 pupil smashes personal best while representing Wandsworth In London Mini Marathon

Year 11 pupil Joelsmashed his person best in last week's Mini London Marathon while representing Wandsworth, completing the three mile course in an impressive 15 minutes and 45 seconds, a full 60 seconds faster than his previous best.

A keen runner since primary school, Joel has also succesfully competed in national cross-country races in Leeds, Loughbourgh and in London over the past three years. He currently represents both London and Surrey in cross-country and in the 1500m.

The Virgin Money Giving Mini London Marathon is the sister of the London Marathon and the course consists of the last three miles (4.828km) of the full London Marathon. The course stretches from London's Old Billingsgate to the Mall, and is aimed at young athletes  aged between 11 - 17 from all 33 London boroughs, along with 13 teams from across the UK, giving the runners a great opportunity to compete against the best up-and-coming new talent in British road running.
