Years 7&8 School Play - Humpty Dumpty
The Terrible Fate of Humpty Dumpty
The Terrible Fate of Humpty Dumpty took to the stage this week with an all-star cast of Years 7 and 8 pupils. The show stars faces previously seen in Hairspray, Blood Brothers and Beauty and the Beast in addition to some fresh new talent. We were lucky enough to perform to audiences of peers, family members and lots of Year 6 pupils who are now very excited to get involved next year!
The play tells the tale of Terry Dumpton (Dani Hughes, Year 8) who joins a new school and is nicknamed Humpty Dumpty by a gang of bullies lead by Stubbs (Lily Ackenhoff, Year 8).
The bullying culminates in a meeting on some wasteground and a challenge being set which leads to his terrible fate. A montage of flashbacks and present day police interviews walks the audience through the events which lead to poor Terry's death.
It truly was a terrifying watch with a deeply resounding message illustrated throughout. With corrupt reporters, a friend that didn’t do enough to save him and a family left heartbroken, this show sent shivers through the audience.
The cast thoroughly enjoyed every moment of bringing the show to life describing it as, "The best DofE ever" and "really exciting to play the role of someone so different to my real personality."
Even those who had never performed in front of an audience before found the experience a thrilling one with one Year 7 pupil saying, "I was terrified the first time the lights went down with a real life audience but I remembered all of my lines and loved performing on a stage. I will definitely audition next year!"
