Sixth Form Induction

On Wednesday 6th September we excitedly welcomed our first Year 12 cohort through the Academy doors.

Fresh from celebrating their GCSE Results the students looked professional, confident and eager to start their new year of studies in our brand new Sixth Form.

Principal Ms Edis opened the induction day with warm words of encouragement after which the students spent time with the Sixth Form Leadership Team and teaching staff led by Mr Speight, and supported by Ms Oliver (Deputy Director Pastoral) and Ms Orchin (Deputy Director Teaching and Learning).

Day two of the induction started early with a trip to Jesus College, Oxford. The day involved a lecture from their Admissions tutor who who was impressed with the students and enjoyed "discussing the meaning and power of words with them", followed by lunch in the great hall and then an afternoon of exploring the city and punting on the Thames.

An exciting and informative three days with students and teachers alike all raring to start the new term! Mr Speight summed up the induction week "We are delighted with our first set of GCSE results which represent really strong foundations for the success of our new Sixth Form. We have been busy enrolling and inducting a fantastic first Year 12 cohort and look forward to welcoming into the Class of 2019 the many external applicants who will be joining us."
