The Challenge is the UK's largest provider of National Citizen Service (NCS), a government initiative with a mission to empower 15-17 year olds through personal development & social action.
We have managed to secure a discount for this fantastic summer challenge but places must be booked by Friday 2nd February to pay £35 instead of £50.
Most Year 11 pupils met Emma from NCS last Friday and completed a declaration of interest form however parents need to book through the website (www.ncsthechallenge.org)to gain the discount and secure a place.
Working through physical, personal and creative challenges, NCS is an experience which empowers young people to build skills and confidence to get ahead in work and life, whilst engaging with their local area.
The programme spans over 18 days and is part-residential, with many different starting dates throughout June, July and August. It has been specifically designed for Year 11/12 students and is broken into three parts:
1. Adventure: A week of outdoor adventure where young people bond as a team through physical challenges and take part in activities such as rock climbing, hiking and canoeing.
2. Discovery: A week living in university accommodation; participants learn skills favoured by employers and universities, whilst practicing independent living.
3. Be the change: Within their teams, young people will pitch and deliver their own social action project to make a difference in their community.
NCS develops young people’s leadership, teamwork and communication skills, builds confi-dence, increases independence, and provides experiences which are invaluable for CVs and UCAS personal statements.
We highly recommend this unique and valuable opportunity and hope you will encourage your son or daughter to take part.
