World Book Day 2018

On Thursday the 1st March Bolingbroke Academy celebrated World Book Day 2018 with a fantastic fun filled day. Pupils arrived to school to discover that their teachers had taken on a new identity as staff and Sixth formers transformed into impressive impersonations of their favourite book characters, swapping office wear for wigs, capes and facepaint.

From Hedwig in Harry Potter to Violet Beauregarde in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - and a rather ingenious version of James and Giant Peach’s Glow worm students were amazed at their teachers’ willingness to dress up as well as their creativity and attention to detail, in particular Ms Orchin as Professor Trelawney. Even Miss Edis’ dog Figgy joined in with the celebration as Aslan from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

It was then the pupils’ turn to take on the role of investigators throughout the day and guess which characters their teachers had dressed up as, with bonus points awarded to those who could name the book each department had chosen. A big well done to Phoebe Davies and Chloe Burrows who discovered the identity of the most book characters.

The day also hosted an array of other book themed competitions such as We’re Going on a Book Hunt won by Abigael Yana and Ella Ward who found all seven hidden books and solved the anagram: MATILDA the fastest! Book quizzes and story snap took place in the library, where pupils had to match the famous quote to the book.

A huge thank you to all staff and sixth formers for lasting the entire day in their spectacular costumes; you are the true heroes of this story!
