Annual Speech Day & Prize Giving 2018

Speech Day & Prize Giving 2018

Bolingbroke Academy held its sixth Speech Day & Prize Giving on Friday 21st September 2018 at Transformation House on St John's Hill. This is a key date in the school calendar whereby we bring all pupils, students, staff, parents, guests and Governors together to celebrate the achievements of the previous academic year.

Ms Edis opened the ceremony with her address and gave an informative, engaging and heartfelt reflection on the previous year and on the school itself, which this year sees ten years since the former Bolingbroke Hospital closed. As Ms Edis explained, the motto of the hospital and now of the school 'Fortiter Ubique' meaning 'Ever Courageous' is lived by all those in the Bolingbroke community and something which we should all be proud of.

Ms Gibson talked about the meaning of friendships and making the right choices in life and telling the children how they have every opportunity available to them and to make the most of their time at achool and choose wisely. Ms Gibson then taught the audience a song and had everyone to their feet singing along. Congratulations to Eugenie Faure, Nya Calder and Moniece Mullings who joined Ms Gibson on stage and sang harmony together.

After such an incredible first half of the ceremony - the speeches - we then moved on to the all important Prize Giving. Presented in subject order, each Head of Department presented a trophy to a Senior and Junior winner. As nominations were shown on the screen, whoops of joy and rounds of applause were given by peers and teachers alike.
