Year 7 musicians pulls off an impressive performance with wide ranging repertoire at summer concert

Report by Mikey Wilson

Tuesday night’s fantastic annual Year 7 Concert proved  beyond doubt that with the departure of the Academy’s Year 13s this summer, its musical excellence is in safe hands.

In the familiar setting of the ever-welcoming St. Michael’s Church, the entire Year 7 cohort put on a superb display, with excellent renditions of well-known hits such as ABBA’s Mamma Mia (Bolingbroke Choir) and the James Bond Theme (Elgar, John and McCartney Guitar).

The tireless efforts of our team of music tutors (Mrs. Riley, Mr. Mazzarella, Miss Sawyer, Mrs. Milicic, Mr. Bruno, Mr. Alexander, and, of course, our Head of Music, Ms. Breckon) has fuelled a genuine enjoyment of music for all of our

Year 7s, which was reflected  not only in their performances, but in the faces of parents and teachers alike.

We are extremely grateful to all those who attended and offered their support for the performers and tutors, whohave worked so hard to make Tuesday night a success.

Special thanks also go to St. Michael’s Church, who provided a beautiful setting and made us all feel welcome, as always has been the case. Here’s to next year!
