ANNUAL SPEECH DAY & PRIZE GIVING
Congratulations to all our pupils who were nominated or won prizes at our Annual Speech Day & Prize Giving on Friday 18th September 2015. As the school grows in size and stature this year we held two events at St Michael’s Church to celebrate the success of our pupils.
At the morning senior school event we were honoured to welcome Mr Ian Hislop, writer, journalist and broadcaster as our guest speaker. The event began as any Bolingbroke event does with a rousing recital of the school mantra and then we were ready for the celebrations to begin. Mr Hislop gave a fantastic speech with the unifying theme of embracing challenge. We were given anecdotes of Mr Hislop’s own education and how the pupils at Bolingbroke Academy have the potential and opportunities to go on and achieve even more. After an interesting question and answer session we were ready for the prize winners to be revealed. A full list of the winners will be available in the latest Courageous Hound but special mentions must go out to Erskine House who won this year’s Quizzitch Cup and Smyth House who won the highly sought after House Shield.
In the afternoon we were ready for the junior school event. This gave us an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2021 during the academic year 2014-15. Once again we were privileged to have another very special guest. For the afternoon event we welcomed Jane Ellison, MP for Battersea. The theme of embracing challenge was also at the centre of this occasion. Our speaker provided us with a motivating speech about how Bolingbroke and its own history is an inspiring story of challenge. Jane Ellison was also able to share with us the stories of inspirational men and women she meets through her role as the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Public Health. This year the Ever Courageous Cup, donated by the Neighbourhood Schools Campaign Group was won by a pupil from the Class of 2021 who thoroughly deserved this accolade.
