Bolingbroke’s athletes did themselves proud at the recent London Youth Games, bringing home a bronze medal for the trophy cabinet.
Regan in year 8 won the bronze in the 4 x 100m relay while representing Wandsworth at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre at the weekend.

Meanwhile, two of our year 9 pupils Yvan and Ben represented Wandsworth in the football tournament, making it through to the quarter finals. Ben scored a stunning hattrick in one of the games, while Yvan also scored two goals for the team. Ultimately though they were knocked out by Ealing and eventually came fifth in the competition overall.
The games, which are for London school children ranging in age from 7 – 19 depending on the sport, were established back in 1977 as part of the Queen’s Silver Jubilee celebrations. Since then, they have gone on to grow in size and complexity, and now cover a huge variety of sporting events including archery, gymnastics, weightlifting, hockey, dance, diving, cricket, fencing and rugby. There is also a watersports regatta at the Royal Albert and Victoria Docks which encompasses everything from canoeing to sailing and rowing, while a cross country element challenges long distance runners – and even Mo Farah who competed one year!
