Bolingbroke Celebrates Excellent A-Level and BTEC results in 2022
Thursday 18 August 2022
After a marathon journey navigating the trials of the last two years, all of the efforts of our fantastic students and teachers have certainly paid off today.
Despite delivering one of the most demanding and traditionally academic subject offers in the local area, 68% of our students finished with 3 x A* - C grades. We are the highest Sixth Form in the Ark Network (13 Schools) for students achieving 2 or more A* - B grades, bucking the national trend of fewer top grades being awarded this year. Another key strength alongside achievement at the top end was overall progress for Bolingbroke students, with students achieving around a third of a grade higher than expected from their starting point across the board.
Particular successes can be seen in Maths where 98% of students made “at” or “above” expected progress, over half of these by a grade or more. 67% of the class were awarded the top A/A* grade this year – a phenomenal achievement. This was also the case in Further Maths where we saw a record 100% A/A*s awarded across the board. Music students also gained 100% A* and A.
43% of English Literature students were awarded the A/A* grade – well above the national average of 36%.
70% of Computer Science and 82% of History students were awarded an A*- B grade, well above the national picture.
In BTEC Applied Science, all students passed with 92% being awarded MMM or higher. 38% were awarded top Distinction grades.
A particular commendation should go to the following students who were awarded top A/A* D/D* grades in 3 or more A-Levels:
Louie F, Rachel-Ann, Louie H, Lukas, Faris, Luke P, Jamaine, Balazs, Caitlin, Elizabeth B, Elizabeth S, Nya, Oliver, Mashal, Jafer, Cheick and Tom.
Our students are off to amazing destinations and next steps, with 88% being awarded a university place this year. Of those, 77% were awarded a place at a prestigious top third and/or Russell Group university of their choice.
Some highlights include:
Louie – A* A* A* A* - University of Oxford (Jesus College) – Physics
Lukas – A* A A – University of Bath – Economics
Faris – A* A A – University of Glasgow – Computer Science
Elizabeth B – A* A A – UCL – History and Politics of the Americas
Nathaniel – A A B – University of Sussex – Mechanical Engineering with Robotics
Luke – A* A A - University of Bristol – Electrical and Electronic Engineering
Elizabeth S – D* D* D* - University of Exeter – Environmental Science

As ever, our academic outcomes are the end product of a school experience rooted in fostering courage, compassion for one another, a supportive community and the pursuit of both personal and academic excellence. We wish the Class of 2022 all the very best in their steps into the world beyond Bolingbroke.
