Concert by candelight delights audience

Bolingbroke's annual concert by candlelight proved to be a magical evening
St Barnabas' Church was packed to the rafters this week for our annual concert by candlelight, where our amazing young musicians entertained us with a medley of music. Crowd favourites included God Only Knows (Senior band), Winter Wonderland (Senior Vocal Group) and Have Yourelf a Merry Little Christmas (Scholars and Apprentices). The closing number, a rousing rendition of Band Aid's Do They Know It's Christmas, performed by the Staff Band and Chior was much enjoyed by everyone in attendance, while the audience also heard Velvet High's newest release, Tasteless.
The school orchestra in action
Getting into the festive vibe, visitors tucked into mince pies and mulled wine before the concert kicked off, enjoying the magical atmosphere of the candlelit church.

The Bolingbroke choir, orchestra, the woodwind and brass ensembles, the senior and junior band and rock school all took part in the concert, playing a wide range of traditional carols alongside more contemporary numbers.
The choir singing with gusto
The evening drew to a close with an enthusiastic and wildly popular staff rendition of Band Aid’s classic Do They Know It’s Christmas, with the lyrics cleverly adapted by our Year 7 Christmas Competition winners Cara, Ethel, Rose and Valentina.A big thank you to those at St Barnabas' Church for alowing this wonderful occasion to take place, and for providing such an attractive and accessible venue. Thanks also to the parent volunteers who worked tirelessly in serving up refreshments to the audience.
