Concert by Candlelight

Monday 13 December 2021

Bolingbroke’s Concert by Candlelight 2021 was the first concert with a live audience in 2 years so pupils and parents were so excited to attend St Michaels Church for this very special event!

Tom and Luca opened the concert with the beautiful first verse of Once in Royal David’s City from the pulpit.

Other highlights included the Scholar and Apprentice vocalists in their beautiful rendition of Coventry Carol, a 16th century less well-known English carol. They all stood holding candles in a big circle around the church, surrounding the audience, and performed the song from memory. They were mixed up in voice parts and 1-2 metres away from each other, which is an incredibly exposing way to perform, but they sounded absolutely incredible, creating a very moving and special number in the concert.

The Chicago cast and band also performed a sneak preview from our upcoming musical which will be running from 9th to 11th February (tickets available on Ipay!) – Nya rocked it as Velma in All That Jazz, with incredible dancing from the cast, choreographed by the one and only Ms Tibbetts.

At our collection at the end of the concert, along with our Music Friends Donations page, we managed to raise a whopping £700 to go towards the Music department! Thank you so much to everyone who donated: this means we can continue to put on amazing events like the Concert by Candlelight and provide incredible resources and performance opportunities for all Bolingbroke pupils. Watch this space for the next concert!
