Induction day for new Sixth Form students to get taste of A levels and meet their peers
Monday 10 June 2019
The induction day will be an opportunity for new sixth formers to meet their fellow students, and get a taste of their A level subjects
An induction day for students with offers to join Bolingbroke Sixth form will be held on Wednesday June 26th.
During the day they will get a taster of their chosen A level subjects, and will also receive their bridging projects and reading lists for the summer. “The purpose of the day is also to give all students the opportunity to experience their subjects at advanced level, and to get to know each other better,” explained head of Sixth Form Ms Orchin.
Students should arrive promptly at 8.25am in the Commons, and are expected to be in formal dress, as per the school’s Sixth Form dress code which is consistent with that expected in a professional workplace.
“This helps reinforce our expectations of conduct and work ethic, while underpinning the culture of equality and respect,” said Ms Orchin.
For male students, this means wearing a suit and shirt, though ties are optional, while female students must wear a suit or smart dress, skirt or trousers with a tailored jacket or cardigan. Jeans. or other denim, casual wear or sports clothes, trainers and plimsolls are not permitted. Footwear should be black or brown leather.
Students should also come prepared with stationeary and a folder of wallet to store handouts.
Although students are usually permitted to leave site for lunch in Sixth Form, a whole year-group lunch will be provided on the induction day in the activities studio. The day will finish promptly at 3.30pm to allow for students to get ready for their Prom that evening.
"We very much look forward to welcoming all students on the day," said Ms Orchin.
It is essential that students who hold conditional offers in Year 11, both current and external, attend the day.
This year there are 63 students in Bolingbroke’s Year 13 and 67 in year 12. Nearly all the Sixth form places for 2019 are full, with a few available for outstanding candidates.
