Victory for U16 girls basketball, as they thrash opposition in final

Our U16 girls basketball team, all smiles after hammering local opponents Southfields in Wandsworth Basketball final

Victory for our girls U16 Basketball team in the Wandsworth Basketball Final last week was especially sweet after they narrowly lost out on the title in 2018.

The final scoreline - a stunning 34-4 to our U16 girls

The Year 10 and 11 girls played Southfields Academy in a tightly contested final, and thrashed the opposition with a resounding 31-4 win. The girls had made it through to the final held at Caius House Youth Centre on Friday afternoon, with wins against Ark Putney Academy, Burtnwood School and Southfields. They will now progress through to the next round of the London Youth Games, representing Wandworth borough in the competition.

What a way to round off the year with a stunning win in the final for our U16 girls

“It was extra special for Year 11 students Chloe, Etta and Sophie who narrowly missted out on the title in last year’s final against Southfields, but this year they came back harder and stronger and intheir final opportunity to take the trophy they did,” said head of sport Ms Bridges.

Very well done to the girls, a brilliant result!
