Two teams were taken to compete against all the other schools in the borough for the annual Wandsworth Schools 7-a-side tournament in Southfields. A total of 16 teams took part in the competition. Bolingbroke ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams competed in different pools. The ‘B’ team competed and drew 3, won 1 and lost 1 but unfortunately did not make it through the group stages.

The ‘A’ team lost their first game, but went on to win the rest and make it to the semi-finals where they played Raynes Park. In a tightly fought game, which went to extra-time and then penalties, the boys made it through to the final where Ark Putney Academy was waiting.

Bolingbroke was looking for revenge after losing their first game earlier in the year to APA. This time, the game was tight, with Bolingbroke having the share in the early stages only for APA to then grow into the game. No score and extra time again, a missed penalty from Bolingbroke in extra-time meant that the game would go to penalties again. Penalties in the final!

Frankie Hutcheon stepped up to take the first penalty and he was looking to make up for missing a penalty in extra time. Calmly he scored, followed by Yvan Digbeu and Jack Hedges who both scored. At this point it was 3-1 to Bolingbroke and APA was now in sudden death territory. Their penalty taker stepped up only to be denied by Alex Kirby in goal who made a great save to take Bolingbroke on to win.

Congratulations to both teams for their perseverance and to the A team for their success!
