Year 7 footballers cruise to 6-2 victory over Thames Christian College in first mixed squad game

The Year 7 mixed squad talking tactics with the coach

With our Year 7 boys winning their past four matches, there was always a risk that any change to the squad could easily have disrupted their winning streak. But the addition of two girls to the team in a mixed squad match against Thames Christian College saw Bolingbroke cruise to yet another victory, inflicting a thumping 6-2 defeat over their opponents, with  Josh, Oscar, Melina, Milan, Freddie and Tahu enjoying a goal apiece.

“This was a great opportunity and one seized by all the players from both the school and development squads,” said manager Jon De Maria. “This was a comfortable afternoon, and it was a pleasure to see the Year 7 kids thinking about their football and working on their ‘pass & move’ game so well,” he continued. However, he warned that tougher challenges lie ahead, starting with an away fixture to Evelyn Grace Academy and then the final WSFL group game against Chestnut Grove before Easter.

“As our initial season draws to a close before Summer Term, the Year 7 Coaches couldn’t be more pleased with how far the 26 kids have come in a short space of time from a standing start back in September,” summed up De Maria. “ Onto the next game: take the ball, pass the ball, repeat!”
