Young Bolingbroke volunteer recognised in local sports awards scheme
Etta, the worthy recipient of the Young Volunteer of the Year Award at the recent Active Wandsworth Awards
One of Bolingbroke’s Year 11 pupils has been recognised for her volunteering efforts in a Borough-wide award scheme.
Etta in Year 11 won the Young Volunteer of the Year prize at the recent Active Wandsworth Awards for her contribution to Bolingbroke’s football, for running the Year 7 and 8 girls football team. She is supervised by Mr Hanson and does this every Wednesday after school from 3.30pm – 4.30pm on an entirely voluntary basis.
She is a talented young player herself, playing for AFC Wimbledon outside school. Thanks to the generosity of our Parents’ Association, she was able to receive funding to enable her to complete the FA refereeing course so that she can officiate at weekend youth matches.
She received her award, which recognise the commitment and achievement of the many people involved in sport within the borough at an event at Wandsworth Civic Suite last Friday. Awards were presented by England Footballer Fara Williams and GB Athletics team member Katie Snowden.
Etta was nominated for the award by Ms Bridges, and won from a shortlist of three other young people, so well done Etta! Many congratulations.
