Psychology A Level Trip
Psychology A Level Trip : Imperial War Museum & Freud's House
On Thursday 7th December, Year 12 Psychology students were given the opportunity to attend a day-trip combining the Freud and Imperial War Museum which directly links to their studies from this half-term.
Students were able to immerse themselves in what it was like to be a Freudian patient by visiting his house and seeing his collection of books and artefacts which he used to inform his theories. They were also able to speak to experts in psychodynamism who were able to further and challenge students' ideas about Freud.
In the afternoon, students visited the Imperial War Museum and had a chance to explore the holocaust exhibition, grounding their knowledge of obedience and conformity in a real-life context, as well as gaining a greater understanding of the role that situational factors in Germany played in the Holocaust.
It was a very moving and humbling experience for our students who were able to read real-life cases of survivors and see exhibits from the Nazi concentration camps.
