Spring Fair biggest and best yet
The wine flowed, the beer slipped down and the international food stalls did a roaring trade as hundreds of parents, carers, pupils and local residents turned out in force to enjoy last Saturday’s annual Bolingbroke Spring Fair.
From crepes, croissants and cheese at the French stall, to corviche at the Ecuadorean stand and pizza on the Italian stall, visitors were faced with a mouthwatering culinary conundrum, while carts selling Oddono’s ice cream, popcorn and hotdogs proved a great hit with the crowds. To while away the afternoon, children – and their parents –had their faces painted, hair feathered and hands tattooed. Children bounced away the afternoon on the Bouncy Castle, while they delighted in getting the better of the goalie in the penalty shootout contest. Nerf guns were fired while the chocolate tombola and raffle proved highly popular.
Naughty but nice - some very tempting goodies on the cake stall
With over 36 stalls in total, there was plenty to keep casual browsers occupied, browse including second hand uniforms, books, jewellery and a lovely array of garden plants. A particular highlight was the amazing cake stall, with some extremely tempting delicacies for sale, many handbaked by parents or students themselves. .
Martin Smith acted as DJ for the afternoon with a medly of hits to make the afternoon go with a swing
The whole event rocked to the sounds of DJ Martin Smith playing a selection of old crowd pleasers while Bolingbroke’s first musical festival, Balcony Bash, saw some of the school’s most talented young musicians including the bands Manya, Verge of Frenzy and the Basement Boys play a number of sets on the balcony to great applause.
And even the weather obliged, with the sun making an appearance at times and the rain holding off for the entire afternoon.
Special thanks must go to the Parents' Association and the many volunteers for all their hard work and organizational skills in making the event such an enormous success. Also a very big thank you to our main sponsor of the event, Moveli as well as:
