Swing into summer concert - review

St Barnabas Church on Battersea Rise was the venue for the recent Summer Concert where our talented musicians put on a wonderful performance

Report by Mikey Wilson

And so another year of music at Bolingbroke Academy comes to an end. St Barnabas Church was the beautiful setting for yet another wonderful summer concert – our seventh, and, sadly, the last that our founding cohorts and year 13s will perform in.

We had, as usual, a fantastic array of music – both timeless classics like Bohemian Rhapsody and Sir Duke, performed to perfection by our Scholars and Apprentices, and more recent hits such as R U Mine, which was superbly covered by the Basement Boys.

It was fitting to finish the night with two universally known songs -  Sweet Caroline and Let It Be (played by the senior band) both of which had the audience tapping and singing along. It was wonderful to see parents and teachers alike getting involved in numbers they know so well.

At Bolingbroke Academy we take immense pride in our music department, and the abundance of musical talent in each year group, helping us to put on such brilliant concerts, really is remarkable.

Special thanks must go to St. Barnabas’ Church, who continued to be such accommodating hosts, as well as the tireless team of music tutors and staff, without whom all of these wonderful nights of music would not be possible.

The concerts seem to be getting even more spectacular year on year, and next year promises to be even more spine-tingling than the last.
