Welcome to Bolingbroke Academy. We are a courageous, compassionate community with a shared mission to empower excellence. We are extremely proud of our vision and values which our young people, teachers and support staff embody day-in, day-out.
Bolingbroke Academy was established in 2012. It was founded after a campaign for a non-selective local school by Battersea parents and residents, and our home is a building that’s been at the heart of its community for over 132 years. Our heritage is that of a community committed to achievement and opportunity for all its citizens – a commitment our school shares. I am so proud to be leading our Academy team. We are a family, and this is echoed by everyone who visits. Our sense of community runs through our corridors, classrooms and extended curriculum.
As an oversubscribed 4-form entry academy, with 100 students in each Sixth Form year group, we are small yet mighty. We have the highest aspirations for all our pupils: we respect and value every pupil and support them to reach their full potential. Our young people advance to excellent university destinations and apprenticeships including Oxbridge, Russell Group and top third universities, as well as top 100 apprenticeship programmes.
We are also proud to be part of Ark – a leading education charity and one of the country’s top-performing academy operators, with a shared mission to transform lives through education.
Please explore our website to give you a flavour of who we are and how we live out our vision and values: courage, compassion, community and excellence. If you have any queries regarding our academy, don't hesitate to get in touch.

Fortiter Ubique
Our vision and values stem from our motto, 'Fortiter Ubique'. This means 'Ever Courageous', and comes from the family coat of arms of Canon John Erskine Clarke, who was vicar of St Mary’s Church in Battersea and a founder of the Bolingbroke Hospital. It embodies our belief that courage, compassion, community and excellence will empower our students and staff to excel in education and beyond.
Our talented teaching and support staff insist on high educational standards every single day, and their commitment is shown in our excellent results, with over 80% of our students achieving a top-third university or top 100 apprenticeship. Our recent leavers' destinations include Cambridge, Oxford, Imperial College, the Royal Veterinary College, Kings College, LSE, University of Manchester, University of Bristol, University of Exeter, University of Cardiff, University of York, and a Bloomsburg apprenticeship.
Bolingbroke Academy is built on the landmark site of the former Bolingbroke Hospital, and continues its tradition of serving the local community. The listed building has been fully refurbished and modernised to provide excellent learning facilities whilst preserving the building’s historic features, and even hosts a GP surgery for local families.
