Overview
The Enrichment (clubs) programme is a very important part of each pupil’s opportunity at Bolingbroke Academy. It encourages pupils to develop many skills which will prepare them for the future, for example problem-solving, creative thinking, initiative, discovery, teamwork etc.
Enrichment groups will be arranged twice a year, based on pupils’ interests, they are free of charge for young people eligible for Pupil Premium, and otherwise charged at £60 for half a year. Examples of activities this year have included:
- ‘The Bark’ Academy magazine, Debating/Public Speaking, Maths Minutes, Coding, Art, Science, Post Colonial Society.
- Flute ensemble, Bolingbroke Choir, Junior and Senior Band, Rap Club, Music Tech, Chamber Choir, String ensemble, Rock School.
- Cricket, Netball, Basketball, Spikeball, Pickleball, Boxing, Football, Rugby Sevens, Hockey, Fitness, Martial Arts, Table Tennis, Yoga. Fixtures and competitions against other local schools are held in most of these.
- We also run the Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels. At each level this involves helping the community/environment, becoming fitter, developing new skills and planning, training for and completing an expedition.
