On Wednesday 31st January - Friday 2nd February The Commons once again filled with the bright lights and sounds of our yearly musical, this time was the spooktacular ‘The Addams Family’.
Preparations started at the beginning of the academic year with our cast coming together weekly to practice their singing, scenes, and dance routines. The musical this year saw some familiar faces in our lead roles, with Noga taking on Wednesday, the headstrong and passionate teenager, and Sebastian playing the dependable and conflicted Father. New to lead roles this year were Tamar, who after special circumstances in casting stepped into the role of Morticia; Coco M-H who showed excellent determination, after falling ill during show week to bring us the high-spirited fiancé Lucas; Coco M who played the heartwarming character of Uncle Fester; Margot who took to the stage as the playful younger brother overcoming a difficult change in family dynamic and Elsie who as Grandma made us laugh at her naughty antics and turn of phrase.
Taylor (Lurch), Angela (Alice, Lucas' mother) and Imogen (Mal, Lucas' father) joined the others as their two families from different worlds clashed, confided, and came together over a dinner party, ‘The Game’ and a night spent at The Addams mansion. Love was helped along with the support of a ghostly chorus who added a playful touch to the scenes they were in and power to those big numbers.
A huge thank you to Ms Stone (Musical Director), Ms Murphy (Director), Ms Wilcox (Assistant Director), Ms Gougeon, Mr Thomas, Ms Nahas and Ms Lonsdale (set design) who came together to give us the extremely uplifting musical comedy. Thank you also to all the teams and individuals involved including those responsible for set-up, lighting and sound, band, and catering.
Looking forward to seeing what is in store next year!
