World Book Day 2024

To celebrate our reading provision, we were delighted to celebrate World Book Day together on 7th March. The celebrations included book-related activities in subject lessons and a whole school book swap after school. Additionally, pupils entered the annual ‘design a book token’ competition in Art with Ms Gougeon. The day also featured an exciting surprise from Bolingbroke staff and 6th form: enjoy the photograph of Core Team, not forgetting Figgy the school dog dressed as the Tin Man!

Proficiency in reading is fundamental to accessing the school curriculum. Strategies to support children read include adults reading aloud regularly, providing time to read, and initiating social reading environments (DfE, The Reading Framework 2023). At Bolingbroke, we assess pupils reading ages each year to ensure we are supporting correctly and fostering a love for reading. You can find your child’s reading age on their academic report. Please do contact Ms Meddle (Reading Lead) for further information.
