In January 2025, Year 12 scientists embarked on a trip to Geneva, Switzerland, to visit CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research. CERN is one of the world's largest and most respected centres for scientific research.
Students had a jam-packed itinerary including a tour of Geneva Old Town and Saint Pierre Cathedral, the International Red Cross Museum and the History of Science Museum. Of course, Mr Howell and Ms Blevins also took the opportunity to teach some aerodynamics in action during the flights as well!
Of course, the main event was CERN, where they explored an exhibition, and joined a talk as well as seeing some videos on CERN progress and history, visited the CERN Data Centre and the Antimatter Factory Experimental Suite.
Here are some comments from students:
"It was an amazing experience"
"It made me love Physics even more"
"Just go!"
"Prepare to be amazed"
